Physical Therapy is the application of manual therapy, modalities, exercise and education to facilitate healing and promote return of function lost due to injury or illness. A good physical therapist performs a comprehensive analysis of movement, which includes identifying joint dysfunction, tissue limitations, muscular imbalances and structural pathologies. Treatment consists of skilled manual therapy (hands on) with therapeutic exercise that simulates daily movements to rehabilitate the body, restoring maximum mobility and optimal mechanical motion, as well as providing preventative care.
What is Involved in the Initial Exam?
The therapist examines the problem area and develops an effective treatment plan. Usually the initial exam takes about 45 minutes. During the consultation, the patient will be asked various questions regarding how the injury took place and the type of symptoms that are present.
What Should I Wear?
You should wear comfortable clothing that does not restrict movement, like a t-shirt and shorts.

Do I Need A Doctor's Prescription?
Yes and no. In Colorado there is what is known as a direct access law, which means you do not have to have a physician's prescription to be treated for physical therapy, however your insurance company may still require a prescription before they will agree to pay for the treatment.
